VATICAN MUSEUMS
Vatican City State. When in AD 67 an unknown centurion led to the Vatican Hill a cohort, which was to crucify Simon Peter, he could not even imagine that he would lay the foundation of a new state, the smallest in terms of territory but one of the most influential in terms of spiritual power.
During the Vatican tour, you will visit the St. Peter’s Basilica. Not many countries can boast of such a vestibule as the St. Peter’s Square. Having come here, a person experiences a deep feeling of calmness and unforgettable peace of mind. This impression can be truly called unique.
All the Vatican palaces situated immediately behind the St. Peter’s Square can be conventionally divided into two parts: the Apostolic Palace, which is the official residence of the Pope, and the buildings, in which the Vatican museums are located, the entrance is in the northern part of the wall encircling the Vatican.
The museum exhibits numerous works of art, which the Popes have been gathering for millennia. Also, you’ll visit the famous Sistine Chapel, where the Cardinals are meeting when choosing a new pope, and you’ll see the awesome work of great Michelangelo i.e. the painting of the Sistine Chapel ceiling. Of course, we cannot tell you everything on this page, it should be seen.
