Description
A country excursion in the vicinity of Rome will immerse you in the comfort and relaxation of real Italy. The beautiful suburb will delight you with picturesque panoramas, traditional food, the good nature of hospitable residents, tasting the best wines of the region, a variety of nature and architecture.
The quiet town of Nemi on the lake of the same name with a population of only 2 thousand people is known for berry delicacies made from strawberries, as well as local meat specialties: game sausages and truffle dishes. The city is located at an altitude of 520 m above sea level and is considered the strawberry capital of Italy. In Nemi, strawberries are grown all year round and even a festival dedicated to them is held.
The surroundings of Rome are fraught with natural beauty. The excursion will allow you to admire the enchantingly beautiful volcanic Lake Albano. The walk will give you a chance to take a break from the bustle of the capital and feel what a real “dolce vita” is. Occupying 135 acres of Vatican-owned territory, the 17th-century Apostolic Palace of Castel Gandolfo is truly a sight to behold. Richly ornate in its furnishings and decor, the palace contains a trove of curiosities, including a papal throne, liturgical antiques and vestments, and of course the world-famous popemobile. Since Pope Francis opened the palace as a museum in 2014, the palace has been open for visitors to explore.
The lakes can be visited both in summer and winter. The tour will help to refresh the impressions of the incredible number of the capital’s attractions, fully recuperate, enjoy the tranquility of romantic places, make gastronomic and wine discoveries.
